Happy New Year!

2012 was a really fun year! We rang in the new year on beautiful Kuau'i. Doug and I reminisced about our honeymoon trip, the kids enjoyed zip-lining and horseback riding in stunning surroundings, and Pops added a third island to his Hawaiian experience.

June brought a once-in-a-lifetime-opportunity for Wesley to travel "Down Under" with New Life Symphony Orchestra. They played concerts in multiple venues including the Sydney Opera House!  Naturally, family and friends had to tag along. When the orchestra left Sydney for New Zealand, the rest of us headed north to Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef. What a thrill!

Doug continues in his pathology practice at Huguley Medical Center in Fort Worth, and serves on several committees there. His off hours are never dull. With all the concerts and events the rest of us are involved in his calendar is always full.

Robyn is in her second year as Soprano Liaison for the Master Chorale of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, the principle chorus for the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. She stays busy singing at churches and events, supporting the kids in their activities, and exploring opportunities for art and ministry. Next semester she will begin the long-deferred adventure of pursuing a graduate degree from the Braniff Graduate School of Liberal Arts at the University of Dallas.

Wesley is a cell biology major at Dallas Baptist University. He is interested in the field of surgery and is considering applying to medical school. He puts his years of music training to good use playing percussion in church and community groups.

Clarissa is on the honor roll at Howard Payne University, having settled on a Bible major and music minor. She had her first taste of Greek language study this fall and found it exhilarating. She sings and plays handbells on campus and at church.

Pops is going strong, visiting us frequently and enjoying having Clarissa close. He can easily buzz down to Brownwood for a choir concert, and has cooked dinner for cafeteria-weary students more than once. He maintains his lapidary hobby and stays active in his church.

At this season each year we are reminded of the importance of family and friends, the blessings of life that we enjoy, and the real reason for Christmas – the birth of our Savior. May you rest in comfort, hope, and the assurance of eternal life as you celebrate His Presence.
